How our data works
Most catalog facts come from other people: a roaster’s product page, a seller’s listing, an open map dataset. We keep a copy of what we read, extract the facts, review them, and only then publish.
A public catalog
Facts about points of interest, organizations, coffees, gear, and listings belong in a shared public catalog. We treat this information in the spirit of open data, subject to the licenses and rights of its sources. Personal account records are separate and private.
The source mark
Source marks identify who published a fact and, where available, its license and the date we checked it. Each catalog detail page also has a Sources section at the bottom. Facts entered by our editors may have no external source.

Dates, not promises
Prices, stock, menus, and hours are observations. We show when we saw them, in relative and absolute form, and older observations fade. We never claim a coffee shop is open right now or that a bag is in stock today.
Tasting notes
Roasters’ tasting notes are labeled as theirs. Your own impressions stay private. We may use aggregated and anonymized contributions to improve ratings and recommendations without publishing your notes verbatim.
Corrections
Spotted something wrong or out of date, or have a licensing or takedown concern about public catalog data? Email us with the page URL, the information at issue, your proposed correction or removal, and a supporting source if available. Reports and correspondence are private; we review them before changing the catalog.
Send a correction or data concern to data@tastingcup.com.
Data archives
We currently have no self-service bulk download or supported public API. You can request a machine-readable archive of public catalog data by email. Source license rights continue to apply; private account data is never included in a public archive.
